How to Integrate QNAP NAS storage and Backup to Zata.ai

A QNAP NAS (Network Attached Storage) is a specialized device made by QNAP Systems. It's designed to store, manage, and share data over a network.

Prerequisites

Zata.ai Bucket - .

Access and Secret Key Pair - .

After successfully setting up the QNAP system, log in with your username and password.

You may now proceed with the following steps to configure the backup and restoration process.

Navigate to the App Center and install HBS 3 Hybrid Backup Sync to proceed with backup configuration.

Open the App Center, search for HBS 3 Hybrid Backup Sync, and proceed with the installation.

Now, back to the Backup/Sync section and launch HBS 3 Hybrid Backup Sync to begin configuration.

Navigate to Storage Spaces, then select and create a new storage space as needed.

Select S3-compatible storage from the available storage options.

Complete the process of creating a storage space as shown in the interface:

Fill in the Required Details:

  • Name: Enter a descriptive name for your storage space (e.g., "Amazon S3 & S3 Compatible 1").

  • Service Provider: Select "S3 Compatible" from the dropdown menu.

  • Server Address: Input the server address (e.g., idr01.zata.ai).

  • Signature Version: Choose the appropriate signature version (e.g., v2).

  • Access Key: Enter your access key.

  • Secret Key: Enter your secret key.

Now back to the Backup & Restore or Backup/Sync section in your application interface.

Click on Create and then select New Backup Job. This will open the backup job creation wizard

Choose the folders or files you wish to back up. When selecting a folder, all files and subfolders within it will be included automatically.

Select the storage space you previously configured (e.g., your S3-compatible storage). Click Select to confirm your choice.

While setting up a bucket on the Zata.ai dashboard, specify and select the bucket name accordingly.

Now select the destination folder

Verify the details, and then proceed to the next step by clicking Next.

Set up your preferred schedule in the schedule section, and click 'Next' to continue.

Configure the rules, such as enabling filters.

Carefully review the settings, and then click Create.

Backup is now successful.
