**Delete Bucket Process:**

* ZataCloud follows a minimum storage retention policy, which is applicable to all stored items, even if the objects are deleted.
* Deleting a bucket is a critical and irreversible action, so proceed carefully.

**Steps to delete a bucket:**

1. Click on the **Delete Bucket** option from the Actions menu.
2. A confirmation pop-up will appear with a warning message stating that this action cannot be undone.
3. Copy the bucket name shown on the screen.
4. Paste the bucket name into the blank confirmation field.
5. Click on the **Delete Bucket** button.

### Deleting a bucket that contains a large number of objects

A bucket must be completely empty before it can be deleted. If your bucket holds hundreds of thousands or millions of objects, the steps above will not be able to empty it — see [Deleting Large Buckets](/manage/bucket/create-bucket/deleting-bucket/deleting-large-buckets.md) for the two supported ways to clear it first.
